Questionnaire to assess the use of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) and Electronic Assistive Technology (EAT)

Introduction:

Please help us to assess the use of Person Centred Technology (PCT) which includes all ICT and EAT devices. The data will be gathered across all of the member organisations of EASPD (European Association of Service providers for Persons with Disabilities). The information will then be used by the ImPaCT in Europe project team to evaluate and promote the benefits of PCT for people with disabilities. The information will be held on a database and will also be made available to all EASPD members.

Completing the questionnaire should not take too long, and your inputs will be invaluable!

Definitions:

Important note:

Definitions around electronic assistive technology, assistive technologies, telecare, telehealth etc. are still in the process of evolving as technology develops. We would be grateful if you do not let the definitions given below restrict your answers.

In the context of this questionnaire we have defined Electronic Assistive Technology (EAT) as:

“Any electronic product, piece of equipment, system or service whether acquired commercially, modified or customised that is used to increase, maintain or improve functional capabilities and which supports independence either for individuals with disabilities or for their carers – whether professional, family or voluntary”.

In the context of this questionnaire we have defined Information and Communication Technology (ICT) as:

"Information and communications technologies (ICT) are the computing and communications facilities and features that variously support social inclusion, teaching and learning. ICT includes technologies such as desktop and laptop computers, software, peripherals, connections to the Internet and augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) aids that are intended to fulfil communications functions and information processing”.

NOTE: In fact ICT is part of the whole of EAT, but still we found it useful to differentiate both in this questionnaire to get an even clearer picture.
